Meet the Teachers: Andy Wiles

Welcome the next instalment of Meet the Teachers! The new way to get to know everyone at Castle School of English in Brighton, or just catch up with your favourite teachers. Our next teacher is Andy Wiles. Andy is a very well-qualified English teacher who is well know for his technical expertise in the language.

Hello Andy. Please tell us some more about yourself. How long have you been a teacher?

I've been a teacher for about 12 years.

Where did you do your training?

I did my basic training at Brighton and Hove City College, which is now the Brighton Met. I've also done my Diploma and Masters degree at the University of Sussex.

What part of teaching/working in a school do you enjoy the most?

I enjoy seeing students progress. Learning a language can change lives for the better!

How long have you lived in Brighton?

I've lived in Hayward's Heath for more than a year. It's a small town just north of the city. I've worked in Brighton on and off for over 20 years.

What do you like most about living here?

I like the sea and nature around Brighton.

What do you do in your spare time?

In my spare time, I like to spend time with my girlfriend. We enjoying visiting places around Sussex and walking. I also like to keep fit, do yoga, read, garden and watch films. 

What is your favourite English idiom?

My favourite idiom is "go the extra mile" - it means to make a special effort to achieve something. It's what I expect from all my students!
