Social Activities
At this school we want you to have fun, make friends and learn about life in England as well as learn the English language. This is why we help you to meet people in lessons and out of lessons.
We have social activities that are good fun and improve your English. For example:
- Visits to London, Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels, Bath, Salisbury/Stonehenge, Cambridge, Oxford, Canterbury, Leeds Castle, Greenwich, Lewes Fireworks, Scotland/Edinburgh
- Visits to pubs, cinemas and theatres
- Parties and dancing
- Dog racing
- Video evenings at the school
- Bowling
Welfare
We will:
- Write free letters to help you get a bank account in the UK
- Write free letters to give to employers
- Write free references for employers, landlords, estate agents and Universities etc
- Give you a free student card, which is useful for identification and student discounts
- Give free help and advice with registering with a doctor or dentist
- Listen to any problems you want to tell us about and try hard to help you
- Give you an emergency telephone number
A member of staff will always be available to help you with accommodation and general welfare issues.
Airport transfer
If you want, you can be picked up from the airport by taxi, and taken directly to your host family. You can also be taken back to the airport when you leave. Airport transfer is optional.

Accommodation
While you are away from home it is important to feel welcome and relaxed. We look after you from the moment you arrive and make sure your stay is a happy one. If you are living with an English host family, it has been inspected and chosen as the most suitable for English language students.
All our host families:
- Make you feel welcome and relaxed
- Look after you and make you happy
- Can give you breakfast and an evening meal
- Are carefully inspected
Accommodation prices:
- Homestay (single room, half-board) £108 a week
- Homestay (twin room,* half-board) £105 a week (each)
- Room only (self-catering) £88 a week
Accommodation finding fee: £30
'Half-board' is a room in the house and you eat breakfast and an evening meal with your host family.
The Castle School can also help you if you want to stay in a hotel or bed and breakfast accommodation.
*If you want a twin room you must apply for this with a friend.
Passports and Visas
- We will write free letters for the Home office so you can get a student visa.
- We will also give free and helpful advice and information about getting student visas and Home Office requirements (minimum attendance for a student visa is 15 hours a week).
