Cambridge Examination courses at Castle School are designed to improve your overall language ability in addition to developing the language skills necessary to pass your chosen exam. They provide complete and careful preparation for all aspects of the examinations and include:

N.B. Exam fees are not included in course fees. FCE / CAE: £110 (approx) per candidate. The exams can be taken in Brighton in March, June and December.

The school is closed on public/bank holidays. You do not get any refund if there is a bank holiday during your course.

 

English Skill CAE You will learn to:
Reading Analyse a text for detail, opinion, tone, purpose, main idea and attitude. Read quickly enough to cope with an academic course. Comprehend stylistic and organisational aspects of a text, such as; exemplification, comparison, reference.
Writing Write reports, transactional letters, articles, discursive and descriptive and narrative compositions. Note-taking for listening tasks. Produce clear, well structured and detailed pieces of writing.
Listening Understand a variety of listening texts, including lectures, phone messages, news, interviews, conversation, extracts from plays and stories with native and non-native accents. Understand complex opinions
Speaking Make contributions to discussions on a variety of topics. Express yourself well with a good degree of fluency. Use English flexibly for social, professional and academic purposes.
Grammar Review and practise all aspects of previously-learned grammar including hypothetical meanings.
Vocabulary Topics Use vocabulary connected with new directions, Seeing is believing, Values, Life changes, Global issues, Health and fitness, Breaking the mould, Law and order, Communication, The world of entertainment.
