
The Castle School Academic Year programme is a wonderful way to spend an academic year (or part academic year) abroad and develop fluency in the English language. Your experience will be a challenge and help you to become more independent. At Castle School you will not only improve your level of English but also gain an advantage in your chosen career or higher education. An academic year course is a course where students follow a full time programme of study for a full or part academic year. This means that students will study for a total of 24, 37 or 48 weeks. Usually students study an academic year course from September until June. However it is also possible to start an academic year course after September and still complete 24 weeks of study.
Course Description:
The Academic Year course offers 20 lessons of General English ‘Plus’ Special Option courses of 8, 12 or 20 lessons per week.
The Special Options courses include:
• Business English
• Exam Preparation
• University Preparation
• Conversation & Pronunciation
Throughout your chosen course you will receive:
• Guidance and support
• Continuous assessment through tutorials
• Homework, progress and level tests
When you have reached Level B2 (Upper-intermediate) we will help you choose the right Pathway for you.
You will have the freedom to choose between business and academic pathways and the great opportunity to take a recognised exam preparation course, such as CAE, FCE, BEC or IELTS.
Guidance & Support
Our academic team are dedicated to providing the level of support you need to help you achieve your goals. Not only will you have regular tutorials with your teacher(s) but also our Academic Year Co-ordinator will meet you to discuss and ensure your are meeting your learning outcomes.
Graduate with a Castle School Diploma or Certificate of Merit.
With our help you will develop your own Portfolio, which will provide the structure you need to enhance your own learning and maximise your progress during your study at Castle School.

With both Home Stay and Self Catering accommodation on offer, you can find the right accommodation suitable for you. The average commuting time from nearby accommodation to school is just 15-30 mintues.
